From Overwhelmed to Empowered

Updated: Nov 17, 2025

Hey Solo Dad,

I know the feeling. The weight of it all can be immense—the sleepless nights, the endless to-do lists, and the quiet pressure of doing it all on your own. It’s a relentless pace that can leave you feeling stretched thin and unseen. I’ve been there. For the last nine years, I've been a solo dad myself, and I've learned that you don't have to just get through it. You can build a life where you and your kids truly thrive.

That's why I created this newsletter. My name is Todd, and I'm here to share the systems, strategies, and mindset shifts that helped me move from a place of simply surviving to a life of confidence and fulfillment. This isn't about being a "perfect" dad—that's an impossible standard. This is about practical, actionable guidance that fits your real life.

Each week, you can expect:

  • 1 Actionable Strategy: A single, powerful tip you can implement today to bring more calm and order to your life. This could be a time-saving hack, a communication script, or a system for managing your home with less effort.

  • 1 Mindset Shift: A brief perspective to help you navigate the emotional and psychological burdens of solo fatherhood. This isn't therapy; it's a new way of thinking, rooted in discipline and resilience, to help you stay calm under pressure

  • 1 Recommended Resource: A book, podcast, or tool that has genuinely helped me on my journey.

My goal is to help you spend less time in a state of chaos and more time creating great memories with your kids.

Let’s begin with a small win.

Your First Practice: The 15-Minute Rule

We all have tasks that weigh on us and make us feel overwhelmed, leading us to do nothing at all. The antidote is not to find more time, but to build momentum.

Here's a simple fix: The 15-Minute Rule.

Pick one task you’ve been putting off—cleaning out the garage, organizing the kitchen pantry, or finally calling to schedule that dentist appointment. Set a timer for 15 minutes and work on only that one task. That's it. When the timer goes off, you're done.

You'll be shocked by how much you can accomplish with just 15 minutes of focused effort. Even if you don't finish the whole task, you've made progress, and that forward momentum is a powerful feeling.

Give it a try this week. Hit reply and let me know what you accomplished.

Cheers to the journey,

Todd
